The Torrance Advantage Awards recognize economic development strategies of local significance and give thanks to businesses for their contribution in enriching the vitality of the Torrance community for the year 2009.
Eight awards were presented in four categories, which reflect key areas that align with the goals of the Economic Development program. In each category, small business and a large business was recognized.
In addition to the prestigious trophy, winners received $200 to help with operating expenses, a signed letter of recognition from the mayor of Torrance, certificates of recommendation from regional elected officials, and businesses will be featured on promotional materials such as the quarterly publication, Torrance Seasons. At the event, Waste Reduction Award Program Winners and Clean Bay Certified Restaurants were also honored for taking specific steps that manifest our role as responsible stewards of the environment.
